Chen the amazing

A Royals starter finally got an all important win as Bruce Chen dazzled yesterday with 6 scoreless innings. Going back to last season it was the third time in four starts he didn't allow a run and of his last seven starts five have been of the quality variety.

If he truly has figured this pitching out, and I'm not ready to make that claim yet, he wouldn't be the first lefty to begin his prime in his 30's. The most well known of course is Jamie Moyer, he had a 94 ERA+ entering his age 33 season and proceeded to start a second career (108 ERA+ since). Chen's ERA+ before his age 33 season? 94.

I think I'd be just fine with Chen alternating poor/good starts. I have no issues with the guy being on the team, I just groan at the thought of him being anything but a 5th starter/long relief.

I'd be fine with that too. I thought his signing ended any chance of O'Sullivan joining the rotation but......

I try to tell myself that O'Sullivan is still young and all, but then I remember...I've seen him pitch.
